FROM THIS NIGHT TO FOREVER - Synithia Williams
REVIEWER: Susan Plummer | RATING: B+
REVIEW: Hideaway Island is the primary setting for this novel, and through the author’s vivid description, it’s the perfect place to pen a romantic tale of discovering love. Residing on this beautiful island is the hero, Carlos Bradley, a popular, highly paid, superstar baseball player whose serious injury has benched him and caused him to become a recluse. In steps our heroine, Virginia Anderson, an artist with an avant-garde personality, and the head of her one-woman struggling interior design firm. Opposites? Yes! Attraction? Oh yes!
The storyline develops quite well from the instant that Carlos hires Virginia to decorate his mini-mansion because his sister wants to get married there. The family dynamic for both Carlos and Virginia plays a critical role in the development of their relationship. They each have some family issues that must be resolved. Not only are family matters problematic, but also personal issues that the hero and heroine carry from past relationships and decisions. Although they are immediately attracted to each other, there is a lot of introspection and self-discovery that has to happen before our couple can find their happy ever after. The secondary characters, family and friends of the protagonists, play meaningful roles in the progression of the storyline. They are likable and very believable in their interactions with Carlos and Virginia. I have a feeling, just from their roles in this novel that we will see some of these characters again in their own story.
I liked this story, and I am looking forward to reading more from this talented writer. I think Jamie Pope is on to something. SURRENDER AT SUNSET is a good read, and I recommend it.
