REVIEW:
Theresa Phillips is co-owner of the Philips
Corporation, along with her two brothers. She has been concentrating on being a
single mother and learning about her new found heritage as an African American
female, after being raised as a Caucasian. She meets Pierson Brooks, an
ex-police officer, who now owns and runs the shop contracted to service the
vehicles for the company, when she gets a flat tire enroute to a meeting. Their
attraction is immediate, but Pierson isn’t looking to get involved with anyone
at this point. He’s concentrating on raising his teenaged sister.
STOLEN JEWELS
is the sequel to STOLEN MEMORIES,
and it chronicles the Philips family as they learn to embrace their new found
heritage while living and working in New Orleans, La. Theresa has overcome her
rebelliousness as a teenager and her disastrous and abusive marriage, to become
the refined and highly respected business woman she was raised to be. However,
her primary focus has become her eight year old son, to the exclusion of a
personal life of her own. Theresa and Pierson’s attraction to each other have
them both reconsidering whether or not they have the time for the relationship.
Things are going well until Theresa’s ex-husband shows up with a sudden renewed
interest in their son which becomes deadly when he kidnaps him. Pierson, along
with Theresa’s brother’s vow that they will do whatever it takes to bring her
son back alive. Friends and extended family members help to keep this story
moving at a moderate pace while providing just enough intrigue to hold your
attention.
Ms. Sudler has done a great job on the continuation of the Philips family
trilogy. I enjoyed reading Stolen Jewels and I look forward to reading Michael’s
story.
