REVIEW: Adam Donovan owns a business renovating historic sites and
buying failing companies. He is close to sealing the deal on the
property that he’s had his eye on, when out of no where Camille Davis
storms into the business meeting demanding to know what’s going on. Her
late father left the property in question to both her and his widow, and
Camille’s been left out of the business dealings. What starts out as a
smooth deal, turns into a family dispute over control of the property.
While spending time with Camille in an effort to close the deal, the
attraction between the two ignites. This all but makes Adam forget about
his rule about relationships.
A CINDERELLA AFFAIR features the good looking and suave Adam Donovan,
one of the “triple threat brothers”. Adam has everything a woman dreams
of: good looks, manners, and nice sized bank account. Adam is also
smooth and talented, and he definitely works both of these when going
after what he wants. I found him intriguing and definitely someone any
woman would want. Adam is a gentleman above all; this shows when Camille
is being attacked by her stepmother. Camille is a very talented fashion
designer with low self-esteem. This is due largely to the fact that she
was verbally abused throughout her childhood by her stepmother. Add that
to the fact that she just recently lost her father, and it is easy to
see why she has issues.
The story is well put together. The main characters are as different as
night and day, but they complement each other. The love scenes are hot
and intoxicating and Adam is there for Camille until the very end. The
plot flows nicely and has the twists and turns needed to keep the pace
flowing. The secondary characters added nicely to the plot. Linc and
Trent Donovan really stood out to me. Linc brought his knowledge about
relationships to the table, since he recently got married. And while
Trent is overprotective and paranoid about everyone, deep down he is a
caring person that will do anything to help his family and friends. I
can’t wait for his story to come out; he will definitely need a strong
woman to keep him in line. Moreen and Dana play significant roles in the
story as well. Moreen is the wickedest stepmother of all times; she’s
hateful and mean spirited. Dana is Camille’s business partner and looks
out for her best interest, both in business and her personal life.
I commend Ms. Arthur on a job well done. This is the second series of
the Donovan clan. I definitely recommend reading this book.
