~ Review: A Father's Fortune ~ |
Silhouette Special Edition February 2003
SYNOPSIS: CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE: (4+) Katika Floyd REVIEW: In A FATHER’S FORTUNE, Erin and Digger must fight the demons from their separate pasts, as they fight for a future together. Hardworking carpenter, Digger Clayton, is avoiding his past steering clear of small children and beautiful women. However, all that changes when he meets preschool owner and teacher, Erin Taylor. The attraction starts at their first meeting when Erin consults with Digger about building an addition to her preschool. His instant attraction to the lovely teacher tempts him to banish the demons of the past to have a life with her. Erin faces her own fears for the future as she grows closer to Digger. Each has painful memories and experiences from their past that they must work through as they fight the growing attraction. Can they overcome their fear to build a life together? Secondary characters are creatively used to express the story’s main theme of Family. This story deals with several aspects of family makeup and the idea of whether or not a couple has to give birth to their own child to have a family. Digger’s family of adopted siblings and Sam, Erin’s vivacious foster child, demonstrate that a family is simply made up those who love and support each other regardless of blood ties. For those unfamiliar with the Silhouette Special Edition releases, it is important to note that this line of books features stories that bring the power of life, love and creating a family to life. With A FATHER'S FORTUNE, Ms. Hailstock has done a wonderful job of presenting a story that well fulfills that ideal. katika@romanceincolor.net (20th January 2003) |
