SYNOPSIS: Private investigator Daniela Roarke knows she's in over her
head when she sees her mark, Caleb Thorne--because he's gorgeous. And although
getting close to Caleb could finally mean busting this no-good father, Daniela
knows she is just an amateur at the game of seduction.

REVIEW: Daniela Roarke works with her brother’s private
investigating business. They have their first big assignment. They need
to find out any negative information about businessman Crandall Thorne.
They convince Daniela to go undercover as a first year law student at
St. Mary’s University where Crandall’s son Caleb Thorne is a law
professor. Her assignment is to get as close as she can to Caleb and get
information from him about his father’s business dealings. Daniela,
however by no means is prepared to meet the irresistible, sexy law
professor Caleb Thorne. Although the code of ethics prevents students
and faculty from fraternizing with each other, can they keep this on a
professional level or will they cross the line?
Ms. Smith enlightens us with a very contentious storyline that depicts
the most sensual characters. Daniela is smart, witty and beautiful.
She’s concentrating on the family business with her two brothers; that
is until she finds she can’t keep Caleb out of her mind. Caleb is fine
and has this astuteness about him that women find irresistible. Caleb
walked away from his father’s law firm five years ago to teach law and
loves it. He’s not serious about anyone and has no plans to be, until
Daniela throws caution to the wind and starts this seduction act to get
him. Caleb is determined to stay in control of the situation.
If you’re looking for a good plot and some steamy romance, A LEGAL
AFFAIR is the book for you. Daniela can be spontaneous and
strong-willed. I like how she goes after what she wants. When she first
meets Caleb she is blown away by his looks and of course the sexy voice
of his and she knows right then and there that she wants this man. Caleb
on the other hand has this hard demeanor about him, but he’s opening up
to Daniela. He’s sexy as hell and knows how to turn on the charm and act
professional when the need arises. The sexual tension between the two is
stimulating and definitely exciting.
The secondary characters make the subplot very interesting. You have
Daniela’s family; her brothers Kenneth and Noah, who are co-partners
with the investigating company. They have no idea what they are in for,
but they love their sister and support her 100 percent. Caleb’s
colleague Shara is feisty and determined to get what she wants; and she
wants Caleb and she lets Daniela know this too. His father Crandall, a
controlling and savvy businessman, but a concerned father brought a
performance beyond doubt that completed the story.
A LEGAL AFFAIR is a good story with some exceptionally memorable
characters. I would definitely recommend this book.
