SYNOPSIS: With her survival hanging in the balance, Tykira Lowery must turn to a man who once broke her heart if she wants to stay alive.

SERIES ROMANCE:  |4| Betty Dowdell

REVIEW:  Author Altonya Washington continues the Ramsey saga with twin brother Quaysar’s story. With more family secrets unfolding in this installment, we are propelled deeper into the inner sanctum and scandal of this powerful, ambitious Ramsey Group dynasty.

Quaysar Ramsey and Tykira Lowery have known each other since childhood and have loved each other just as long. But, Quay takes notice when disturbing and sometimes dangerous patterns of events seemingly begin to circumvent his relationship with the women he becomes interested in. He soon realizes the only possible way of keeping Tyke safe is to distance all hope of romance between them, even if it means destroying their hearts and any future they may have together.

The scenery of the story moves from the abundant beauty of Seattle, Washington to the mountainous charm of Denver, Colorado, capturing the exquisiteness of nature during an adventurous train ride to Banff, Canada, and adding a little of the southern warmth and serenity of Savannah, Georgia.

The seductive magnetism between Quay and Tyke are as strong as the verbal antagonism. However, Quay’s continued obstinacies over his desire for Tyke does become monotonous as is Tyke’s need for physical retribution, considering the number of times she slaps Quay. As part of a series readers have been introduced to many of the secondary characters who hopefully will become key players on their own stage. I would love a story about the elder Ramseys, including patriarch Quinten and matriarch Marcella Ramsey.

The dialogue between the characters is convincing and the rhythm is smooth with Quay’s teetering being the only drawback. I eagerly await the next installment to see what else is hidden in the Ramsey closet.

I salute Ms. Washington’s bold offering to give readers yet another dimension to contemporary romance with a continuing series that are not quite stand alone. I commend Ms. Washington on the growth she has shown as an author since REMEMBER LOVE her debut novel and I look forward to enjoying her talent in the future.
