CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE |3+| Marguerite Lemons

REVIEW:  Antonia “Toni” Carlton is working overtime to prove that she has what it takes to become the first female Director of Townsend’s Stock Brokerage and Investments. She believes her hard work is paying off, until she over hears a conversation between her boss and a mystery person, framing her for embezzlement! Mackinsey “Mack” Jessup is hired by Townsend to uncover the source of some irregularities. When Toni runs into his office one night and faints, Mack falls head over heels for the woman who quickly becomes the prime suspect in a murder and embezzlement scandal. Mack fights to keep Toni alive and out of jail, while excising the demons of his past so that he will be free to have the loving relationship he’s always wanted.

THE PERFECT FRAME is filled with mystery and intrigue. The main characters meet under a cloud of suspicion, and the web of lies and deceit become so entangled that you begin to realize that anyone could have done it. But the real surprise is who actually did it! Toni and Mack’s relationship is compounded by the fact that Toni doesn’t know who to trust, and Mack doesn’t trust any woman who is not related to him by blood or marriage. However, the lack of trust between these two began to weigh on my patience after awhile. Even more so when Toni realizes that Mack is her only hope, but continues doing things behind his back; which only makes the situation worse. Toni also tolerates a lot a verbal abuse and physical threats from a male co-worker prior to and during the incident. I can understand her wanting to ignore him after she becomes a suspect, but I don’t see anyone tolerating his hostility on a regular basis in a work environment

I enjoyed the familial relationship of the Jessup family, and I believe that Ms. Clark has already laid the ground work for the sister’s story. For those who like a good “whodunit”, you will enjoy this one, I did.
