REVIEW: Ella and Lily move to the home she inherited from her
grandmother. It is the only place her husband won’t look, because he
knows nothing about it. After returning to Beau Ciel, Ella comes face to
face with demons from her past, but she also discovers a love without
pain.
A PERFECT PLACE TO PRAY takes you on a journey through the life of a
woman who has endured years of abuse. Once the main character moves back
home you are drawn into a web of lies and deceit from her past. You
become enthralled in the subplots. You wonder why her own mother is out
to destroy her while hoping that her husband never discovers where they
are. And, just when you think the story is about to wrap up you get
blind-sided by a plot twist you were not expecting.
When I first started reading this one, I thought that it was going to be
the usual woman gets out of an abusive relationship and goes on to have
a wonderful life. I was pleasantly surprised by depth of the characters
and the sub-plots. Ms. Goodwin has done a great job with the all too
familiar topics of domestic violence and sexual molestation.
