REVIEW:
Carter Chase is the eldest of the male Chase men
and he is still eligible and heir to the Chase Family Empire. Now Carter is a
father. He and his former fiancée, Avery Jackson are parents of a beautiful
daughter, Conner. Carter was almost deprived of his daughter once Avery married
another man and had decided not to tell Carter the baby was his. Avery couldn’t
go through with the hoax and told Carter the truth. Carter has plans to win
Avery back at all costs since it was his lies and controlling nature that drove
her away in the first place.
Michael Chase, Carter’s brother, is still not one of his father’s favorite
people and he would do anything to win back his father’s approval. He remains
tangled in a hidden family scandal that continues to alienate him from his
father and mother. Michael’s wrath falls on the person who caused the scandal,
his wife Kimberly. He takes every opportunity to try to make her life more
miserable each day, not seeing what his actions are doing to his twin sons.
Haley Chase is the youngest of the family and already more than her parents can
handle. Spoiled, all Haley wants is to get her hands on her trust fund. So she
gets involved with a law student to see if there is any way she can get her
money early but becomes entangled in a scandal that could cost her life.
A PRICE TO PAY is the fourth installment of
the View Park Series and it takes the
reader back into the lives of the very rich, privileged and snobbish. All of the
adult children have been given everything money could buy but they are still
lacking as adults. Not only do you have to keep watch over your competitors when
you are wealthy, you have to pay special attention to your children and the
people in their lives. You never know when the backstabbing is coming your way,
especially when you start it. Ms. Winters does an excellent job with all the
concurrent plots and sub plots to bring the story to another unexpected ending.
As soon as you finish this one, you will be ready for the next installment.
Great story, great
characters and great addition to the series.
