REVIEW:
Monique Morrison had made a
huge mistake when she moved into a home to play house with Boris Cortland. With
on again then off again wedding plans and a woman who had already signed on to
play the role of his wife, Boris was in no hurry to seal the deal. In his mind,
Monique wasn't going anywhere, so why not continue to play the field? Though she
was in church Sunday after Sunday, praying for God to touch Boris' heart and
turn him from his wicked ways, it seemed Monique's pleas were constantly
unanswered.
Monique Morrison is a beautiful, confidant plus sized Senior Executive Producer
for the WGOD, FM gospel radio. She and her best friend Arykah Miles, top Real
Estate Agent, spare no expense on their professional wardrobes to accent their
full sized figures. Desiring unconditional love in the arms of a God fearing man
is their greatest desire. Believing marriage is imminent; Monique moves in with
her fiancé Boris Cortland, womanizer, choir director and the church's head
musician. Reality of her impending marriage slowly dissipates as she experiences
verbal and mental abuse at the hands of Boris. Continuing to trust God for his
change, she prays daily.
Boris Cortland is an arrogant, double talking, disrespectful abuser. He has no
real intentions of being faithful or marrying Monique anytime soon. Believing he
has her where he wants her, Boris continues to seek physical comfort in the arms
of other women, particularly those in his Choir.
In walks Adonis Courtland, Jr., Boris’s cousin who falls in love with Monique.
Raised by Boris’s mother, Myrtle, Adonis is more like a brother than his cousin.
Recently graduating from music school and a licensed electrician, he is
temporarily living with Boris and Monique until he finds his own place. Having
first hand knowledge of Boris’s abuse towards Monique, Adonis takes matters into
his own hands and sets a course to right the wrongs of his cousin.
Nikita Lynnette Nichols writes a well developed, smooth flowing, captivating
Christian Fiction book that focuses on the low self esteem of plus sized women
wanting love. Her supporting cast of characters, Myrtle Courtland, Amaryllis and
Pastor Lance Howell, helps to solidify her storyline showing that unconditional
love has no boundaries and that abuse of any kind should never be accepted. A
Woman’s Worth reveals that although success is achieved, it doesn’t replace the
need for unconditional love. She underscores her theme very effectively by
revealing the sinful actions of Christians in church, like Boris they deceive
themselves by being hearers of the word and not doers.
A Woman’s Worth
is an uplifting book where love is valued beyond the size and appearance of a
woman.
