PLOT SYNOPSIS:

REVIEW:

AGAIN, MY LOVE is an auspicious debut for Canadian author Kayla Perrin. When Marcia Robertson gives up a life of love and devotion to fulfill her dream to be an actress, the man who loves her, Gavin Williams, is devastated and leaves Canada to work in Japan.

Seven years later, Gavin returns and contacts Marica -- he has been unable to
purge her from his thoughts. He wants to win back her friendship, and hopefully, her love. Unfortunately, Marcia is living with her boyfriend, Jackson, an actor, and feels she is in love with him. When friends tell her that Jackson has been unfaithful to her, she refuses to believe them, but eventually faced with the truth, she leaves him and finds herself in Gavin's arms, aching for comfort. Marcia and Gavin become lovers, and at first everything seems to be perfect, but problems from the past, never resolved, surface when Marcia is offered the chance of a lifetime. Again, Gavin expects her to give up her dream and be with him. Marcia refuses and realized that Gavin is unwilling to support her own dreams and aspirations.

I must admit that at first, I was a bit annoyed with the heroine's gullibility in her relationship with the arrogant Jackson, but as her character develops, I realized that this is the reality of her life. She is not a weak heroine, but one blinded by love and commitment; unable to see her infidelity. When Marcia finds Jackson locked in the arms of another woman, she loses no time in admitting that she was wrong and recognizes that Gavin is the better man. The plot may be a familiar one, but the beauty of this story is how Ms. Perrin handles the pain and anger of the past, weaving a passionate sensual love  story, eventually allow the lovers to find true happiness.

AGAIN, MY LOVE is an excellent character study of two individuals with different hopes and aspirations, but who are finally able to transcend these differences and find a life of happiness.

With her debut book, Ms. Perrin establishes that she is a writer to watch. This reviewer looks forward to her first Arabesque with anticipation.
