PLOT SYNOPSIS:

REVIEW:

With two estranged mothers, a lovesick philandering ex-husband, a deranged ex-girlfriend, a sister playing mother and a spiteful father, there was way too much going on in this book.  If you can make it through to the later third of the book, then finally a legitimate story emerges.

In her early twenties, Kayla Martin was in love with Allen Dawson.  Fearing his growing love for Kayla, Allen breaks up with her.  Kayla is devastated and it takes months for her to recover, never knowing why Allen left.

Ten years and two failed marriages later, Allen runs into Kayla.  He realizes that he hasn’t been truly happy since they parted.  He wants a second chance with Kayla to see if they can reclaim the relationship they once had.  Kayla still has feelings for Allen, but she refuses to let him hurt her like he once did.

Kayla’s ex-husband is having a tough time going on with his life, the mother Kayla hasn’t seen since she was little girl, returns home and Allen’s ex-wife appears after deserting their son at six months old. As if all that wasn’t enough, a mystery evolves.

With all those issues to deal with and her ever-growing feelings for Allen, Kayla is very hesitant to commit to him and their relationship.

AN UNFINISHED LOVE AFFAIR is monotonous and uneventful at best.  The characters are one-dimensional and exuded no sexual chemistry.  There is no inkling to even like these people.  It took this reviewer several starts and stops to complete this book.
