REVIEW:  Eric Jackson returns home from the war a different man. After narrowly escaping death when his troops came under fire, he begins having nightmares . Gabrielle has been in love with her husband since high school, and when he returns, she assumes things will go back to the way they were before he left. This is the not case and Eric becomes distant while dealing with his demons. Gabrielle tries to reach him, but finds their relationship is spiraling out of control. When Gabrielle becomes pregnant a lot of unanswered questions arise. With their marriage already on the rocks, this only adds fuel to the fire. The only thing that can help them now is faith.

This story moves very slowly in the beginning, and I found it boring at times. The communication between the two leads is nonexistent after awhile, and this is their biggest problem. The plot has a few flaws that don’t connect to the story. For example, Jamila, Gabrielle’s friend, goes after Eric and does things to hurt Gabrielle in the process. But she claims that they are good friends. What is the motive behind this? Also, the circumstances behind Eric’s fertility issue didn’t make sense to me. I did, however, enjoy the love scenes between Eric and Gabrielle.

The secondary characters helped some, but didn’t bring a lot to the table. Jamila is a woman many women talk about when they say “Don’t bring a woman like that around my man”. This story had some good points about men and woman in the military and doing active duty in the war. So many things have changed for them upon returning from combat. I enjoyed this element of the story; I truly have the utmost respect for the troops, because they go through so much.

Overall, ANOTHER MAN'S BABY is a book worth reading if you can get past a few weaknesses.
