REVIEW:  Simone Ladner put her dreams being owner and Chef of her own restaurant on hold and moved back to the Biloxi to help her family rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. While laying shingles on a roof, she meets the very handsome and charismatic Keithen Knight. Simone is promptly rendered speechless with her first glance into his gorgeous green eyes; likewise Keithen is instantly drawn to her deep brown eyes and warm smile. Keithen is a very wealthy land developer that has come to the Gulf Coast as a volunteer. After seeing the level of destruction left by the Katrina, he wanted to give more than a donation to help the people displaced get back into their homes. The sparks fly between these two, and as Keithen and Simone get to know each other better, they fall deep in love. But will their love be able to withstand the opposition they receive because of the obvious differences in their race and social status?

ARMS OF A STRANGER just didn’t come together for me because it lacked the tension and suspense needed to fully keep me engaged. Overall, I found the story to be anticlimactic and more than a bit predictable. The pacing is stagnant and drags along, mostly due to the abundance of random, predictable twists thrown in. I never really connected to any of the characters because they were a bit stilted and one dimensional to me. Not to say that I did not like the leads, I found myself rooting for them, but I just wish that some of the other characters had a little more depth to them to make the story more interesting.

ARMS OF A STRANGER not a bad story, it just failed to elicit any high emotions from me. And because of this, I was never fully engaged in the plot or the leads. But for anyone in the mood for more for a sweet, traditional romance, then this is your story.
