REVIEW:
Belinda Eaton is happy with her life as a high school history teacher. Then
tragedy occurs and she finds herself caring for her late sister’s kids along
with Griffin Rice, the kids’ uncle and an entertainment attorney who she
despises. Can the both of them get past their feelings and be a family?
In BITTERSWEET LOVE,
Ms. Alers introduces two strong-willed characters. Belinda Eaton is single, and
has never been married. She’s smart, attractive and has a good job-- but no man.
Men seem to think women like Belinda are cold, controlling and very opinionated.
This sometimes makes it hard for them to establish a relationship, let alone
stay in one.
Griffin, an entertainment lawyer, is handsome, well off and women swarm after
him. He’s determined to show Belinda that she has the wrong opinion about him
and that he’s actually a nice guy. These two create havoc and there are
definitely fireworks.
The plot is believable and the pace is good throughout the story. The setting
gives you a good idea of the scenery and activities available in Philadelphia.
While I enjoyed the story, Belinda’s character annoyed me at times, because she
was too controlling. Griffin’s character was energizing and I enjoyed reading
about him immensely. I truly believe that when tragedy strikes in a family that
is supportive of each other, it soothes the mourning process. Belinda and
Griffin did a good job doing this; it made the story believable.
Ms. Alers did a good job with this story, and I recommend reading it.
