REVIEW:
Adrianne Byrd has another
masterpiece on her hands with the romantic comedy BODY HEAT. Nicole
“Nikki” Jamison is a playwright who seems to have nothing but a continuous
stream of bad luck. Hylan Dawson is a bonafide playa who vows to never get
married. After a conversation with a stranger, Nikki uses her overactive
imagination and plans the ultimate get away to get her life together. When Hylan
shows up at his vacation home he discovers that he’s been married to a virtual
stranger for a year and a half. As Hylan and Nikki live out this lie, they both
discover that they can’t live without each other.
Nikki has spent her life feeling like a failure. She desperately wants to be a
successful playwright, but when her off-off-off Broadway play opens and closes
in the same night, she just might have to face the fact that it’s not meant to
be and she is a disappointment to her family yet again. She decides to go to
Saint Lucia and live at a strangers house under the pretense of being his wife
who’s there writing her next big screenplay. Only problem is eighteen months
later her “husband” shows up and her neat little lie begins spiraling out of
control. As Hylan goes along with Nikki’s lies, he finds himself falling in love
for the first time in his life. When Nikki’s family pops in for a visit, Nikki
and Hylan’s fantasy begins to unravel before their eyes. Will Nikki and Hylan
take a leap of faith together and make their “make-believe” marriage a reality?
The majority of the story takes place in Saint Lucia. There are parts that take
place in New York and Atlanta. The setting is idealistic and creates a romantic
setting for the couple to escape reality and fall in love. The dialogue in the
story is very captivating. The conversations between the characters flow
smoothly throughout the story. The supporting characters add humor and advice to
the characters.
If you liked TWO GROOMS AND A WEDDING
and SINFUL CHOCOLATE,
then you will absolutely love
BODY HEAT.
The third in the Kappa Psi Kappa series is an excellent romantic novel with a
touch of humor to keep you laughing throughout the story. I can’t wait to see
which Kappa Psi Kappa brother will fall in love next.
