Contemporary Romance

PLOT SYNOPSIS:

When Beaumont Hill, the only African-American skier on the U.S. Olympic team, breaks his back in a fall, his spirit is also shattered.  He has no desire to live, nor work with physical therapist Shayna DaCosta.  The former gymnast is determined to get the angry athlete back to health. When she discovers a terrible secret shadowing Beau's life, Shayna is able to reawaken a champion's spirit - and rekindle a precious love.

REVIEW:

Shayna DaCosta is an attractive young woman who takes no mess. She’s educated, intelligent and well-rounded, but woe be unto the person who tries to wrong her. This lady can give as good as she gets!

Enter Beaumont Hill, the only black skier on the United States Olympic team. Arrogant and full of himself, he doesn’t like Shayna too well at first. To his chagrin, she is the physical therapist assigned to his case when he is injured and can no longer ski.

He tries with all his might to run the beautiful Shayna away, but she fights just as hard to stay. Beaumont has no idea that Shayna is a fighter and will scrap with him to the end if that’s necessary to do her job. She identifies the wall of anger that he has built around himself and she vows to break it down so she can help him to recover. And she does.

They fight like proverbial cats and dogs until the day they look beyond their dislike of each other and see something else: love. Before they know it, they are madly in love and are left reeling wondering how and why that happened between them.

There’s an interesting secret going on beneath the main plot that will keep readers hooked from beginning to end.

King-Gamble has written a keeper with this novel. Each of her books is better than the previous one, but this one surpasses them all. The plot is layered with several things going on simultaneously, but they all embrace and connect to the major plot and keep the storyline interesting. Her easy-to-read writing style makes for a pleasant reading experience and helps the book to flow well. CHANGE OF HEART is a quick read because once readers start reading it, they will become hooked and won’t want to put it down until they’ve finished.

With that in mind, cook dinner the day before you intend to read this incredibly lush novel and take the next day off to enjoy this wonderful book without interruption!
