REVIEW:  Agent Cecilia “CeCe” Graves has just transferred from the Richmond Virginia office of Affwac, after closing a high profile money laundering case. She needed a break and time to clear her head, but she was surprised to discover that Victor Chambers, the man she loved in college and whom she betrayed is an agent at the Affwac office in Atlanta. Victor has been an Affwac agent for six years, and when he sees CeCe in the coffee shop of their office building he’s immediately attracted. CeCe looks familiar to him, but he can’t fathom why. Victor has earned the reputation of being a love’em and leave’em type of guy who dominates every woman he has ever had a relationship with, and he has now decided that CeCe is the one he wants. Neither Victor nor CeCe have had any contact in ten years, and now they are on a collision course with the destiny when they are assigned to work together on a high profile case.

CeCe and Victor both have strong personalities and are highly opinionated. Neither will back down from a challenge, especially one that is job related, but both have problems dealing with their unresolved feelings for each other. CeCe’s co-worker, and the only friend she’s made since arriving in Atlanta, is her confidant and encourages her to pursue a relationship with Victor, since it is obvious that they are both still extremely attracted to each other. Victor usually knows exactly what he wants and how to go about getting it; however, he’s at a loss when it comes to his true feelings for CeCe. His co-worker’s and his cousin have no problem pointing out that fact that his feelings are obvious.

CHECKS AND BALANCES is a fast paced story about two people who must rebuild their friendship, trust and their personal relationship. The story is set in and around the Atlanta area with the main characters developing their relationship while trying to work together. The supporting characters encourage the relationship between CeCe and Victor while offering their opinions when needed or asked. The secondary story-line is interesting with a surprise ending.

CHECKS AND BALANCES is a well written, entertaining and interesting story with some interesting twists and turns. I found it to be an enjoyable read.
