DECEPTION - Selena Montgomery

Harper Collins/Avon

0-06137-605-1

April 2009

SYNOPSIS:  The second novel in Montgomery's thrilling series about three foster sisters and the past that continues to haunt them. After an innocent woman is accused of murder, Fin Borders will have to go back to the small Georgia town of her birth to help.

CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE |4| Patricia Sykes-Brown

REVIEW: Sisters of the heart, Fin, Kell, and Julia were cultivated and groomed to be independent, loyal, faithful, loving, and giving by foster mom extraordinaire, Mrs. Eliza Faraday. Fate has not been very kind to the characters of DECEPTION and their lives hang in the balance because of a dangerously mysterious Stark. As an abused, abandoned, and orphaned trio reared in the small rural town of Halldan, Georgia, their life’s achievements are amazing beyond expectation. One for all, and all for one--their return to this deceptively sleepy southern town could be a death sentence.

Findley Borders is a skillfully gorgeous gambler with an aura that attracts men like a magnet. Of course, Fin is only mildly interested in anyone with a big bank account who can add to her substantial winnings. Admirably shrewd because of her brutal beginnings, Fin holds fast to a strict discipline, a fearless work ethic with belief in the ability to achieve wealth by participating in an unorthodox capitalistic system.

Undercover FBI Agent Caleb Matthews is dangerously sexy and smoothly manipulates Fin’s caring, tenderhearted, benevolent and compassionate personality. The passionate encounter of the big, more than handsome, mysterious ADA with the secretive and seductive Fin could lead to solutions to her dreams.

Selena Montgomery’s artistry is dramatically captivating as she skillfully weaves the tale of three diverse orphans and a willful foster mom and endears them to us. The characters are complex and multidimensional, as is the plot. Travel from glamorous Cannes, Atlanta, to Halldan. Kell and Luke’s characters were previously developed in a surprisingly refreshing, but torrid romance. Kell emerged as a clever attorney and strong woman of conviction, despite her clientele of rich and famous criminals. Shy and petite Julia, the doctor, is destined for her own sizzling romance, as sparks and glances peak out from beneath the drama.

DECEPTION is a highly entertaining, suspenseful and deliciously long must read. You get more than your money’s worth of excitement, lust, anger, danger, mystery, murder, and love.
