PLOT SYNOPSIS:

REVIEW:

DANGEROUS DECEPTIONS is the latest book by a talented author, Linda Hudson-Smith.  Linda is expert at introducing important medical concerns for African Americans into very romantic and sexy tales.

Erika Edmunds is a beautiful young doctor dedicated to educating people about  Pernicious Anemia, a disease that causes her mother’s death.  She literally runs into Dr. Michael Mathis while rushing to get to work on time…

“Where’s the fire gorgeous?” Stooping over, he picked up her belongings, which were scattered all over the clear walkway.

In your touch, she sang out inwardly, marveling at the wavy, maple-brown hair that fell just short of his stiff white collar.  When he straightened, she felt like a midget standing toe-to-toe with Kareem Abdul Jabbar.  In reality he looked approximately six-foot-two, give or take an inch.  For sure, he looked good enough to order for dessert….

…“I hope the fire is out by the time you get there, gorgeous.  I’d hate for you to get caught in a firestorm.  You’re bewitching and too beautiful to be burned at the stake.”

She’d ignored his term of endearment once, but he was beginning to push her tolerance button.  That could put him up to his neck in boiling-hot water, especially if he pressed to hard.

Erika squashed her childish desire to make a farcical face at him.  “ Maybe if you’d watched where you were going I could’ve put the fire out myself. Thank you,” she retorted…

Even though there is an instant attraction, they’re initial meetings are less than civil.  But Michael isn’t fooled.  He sees the attraction in her eyes, and he sets out to convince her to give into her feelings.  When she does, the fireworks never stop.

The plot thickens when a close friend shares a secret with Michael about Erika’s past and swears him to secrecy.  He becomes torn.  Soon Erika senses that something is not right and begins to wonder what secrets Michael holds.  Unable to deal with the guilt, Michael forces the truth to come out.  How will Erika react?  Will she ever trust him again?  Is Love enough?

From irritation, to lust, to love, this is a fun story about two very strong willed people. Michael is handsome, confident, and charming and Erika is determined, smart, and sexy.

There were some interesting twist and turns and the romance was hot!  I enjoyed the personality of the characters.  Linda should also be applauded for addressing a serious health issues in this novel.  She does this so eloquently without crowding the story.  Her ability to create a romantic adventure for the reader while enlightening them on a pressing issue is expert.

DANGEROUS DECEPTIONS is definitely a great read.  I was entertained and enamored by the story and it’s characters.
