REVIEW:
Don Mitchell
is the owner and operator of LTI, and the legitimate heir to DMI. Denial of his
birthright in CHOSEN
sends Don packing to Africa.
CHOSEN ends with
Don finding God’s love stronger than ever, forgiveness, peace and a new love in
his assistant and best friend Naledi. For Don, finding peace and a renewed mind
brings great power and peace as Don is summoned back to Detroit to help save DMI
from bankruptcy caused by the reckless business decisions of his younger half
brother, Joel. Battling mistrust, deception and jealousy, Don reluctantly
returns, and waits patiently for God to show him his destiny concerning DMI.
Joel Mitchell is the youngest son of Dave Mitchell and the CEO of DMI. With
God’s favor and Abigail’s love and expertise, Joel takes DMI to new heights,
only to nearly bankrupt DMI three years later. Rebuffing Abigail’s love and
losing sight of God’s power and favor, leaves Joel trusting no one but himself
for the future decisions concerning DMI. No longer trusting and seeking God,
Joel returns to his old ways of womanizing, betraying God and Abigail, and
ignoring his father’s dying bed edict, when he accepts a business deal that
could only destroy DMI. Joel’s betrayal comes at a price, one that could change
his life and possibly his status as CEO.
In this wonderfully crafted sequel to
CHOSEN, Patricia
Haley’s takes the story of Kings David and Solomon to another level.
DESTINED is the
story of King Solomon’s rise and fall due to forgetting where his favor and
blessings came from. Patricia Haley so successfully reveals how easy it is for
success, wealth and favor to disappear when we no longer depend on the one
responsible…God. Using the vices of jealousy, lust, greed, and arrogance to name
a few, fortifies this storyline and makes it very believable. Patricia’s very
colorful and bold characters, like Madeline, Don’s mother, and Sherry’s nemesis,
Abigail and her undying love for Joel, until he decides to unequally yoke
himself in marriage with an unbeliever for money, stirs up emotions and creates
battles only seen on television Soap Operas. Patricia Haley pens a superb fast
paced, encouraging, self examining story that shows the grace, mercy and power
of the awesome God we serve, as well as the power of forgiveness.
To be Destined is to know that God has a specific purpose for your life, one
that you will achieve as you seek His will and His ways. I highly recommend
Patricia Haley’s DESTINED;
however, not before I highly recommend reading CHOSEN
first. Truly you will find something in this series that will encourage you to
seek out and fulfill your God ordained Destiny.
