REVIEW: A most engrossing story! Riveting! Emotionally
charged! Leaves the reader in awe!
Emotional wounds, which have not been allowed to heal but have the
appearance of healing can quickly reopen and create a psychological
impact so damaging that it can ricochet and destroy your life and the
life of those around you. Past pain can definitely make a difference in
present circumstances. Miasha uses this theme as her base for this novel
but also explores the themes of anger, mistrust and the importance of
familial support. It is a novel filled with righteous indignation,
suspense and intrigue and a glimpse of love in the midst of chaos.
Angela, the main character of the novel has been cut deep. So deep that
she walks on the precipice of depression and the push of rejection or
the withdrawal of that which she is dependent on to carry her through
life can place her in the abyss of no return. Herein one sees the heart
of man, deceitful and desperately wicked. No one would have suspected
that such a successful person could be so torn by shame, so bond by the
chains of unforgiveness, so damage by the events of the past could, like
the serpent who offered the apple to Eve, cause such a change in events
that were powerful, impacting and life changing!
Monica, a pre-school teacher is happily married and totally
unsuspecting. She sees her life change in the twinkling of an eye. Anger
of words written and read propels her towards temporary insanity and she
commits a crime of passion that could nullify her life, as she knows it.
Miasha shows with this character what was the meaning of seeing red and
the danger anger can pose to an individual if left unchecked. What is
beautiful in itself is the author’s portrayal of this woman’s journey
and the impact she had on the life of thousands. Through pain came
purpose and through purpose came prosperity.
Rage can destroy, pain and anger can nullify a life but love ultimately
builds one back up. Love and familial support are also the other themes
explored. Monica could not have made it through the ordeal, had it not
been for the accepted love of her family. Unlike Angela who closed off
herself and maintain a tunnel vision, Monica opened herself to the love
of family and love of others. It was that love that brought her through.
The ultimate twist, totally unexpected was how that love was able to
forgive the most unmentionable sin to be done to man.
Anger propels, love endures and obsession nullifies. Powerful!
Thrilling! A must read for any woman walking on the pathway called
relationship!
