REVIEW:
“What
God has joined together, Let NO WOMAN put Asunder!” Can I get an Amen! Newlyweds
Pastor Darvin and First Lady Michelle Johnson of Mt. Zion Baptist Church
charismatically ministers to a lively congregation. Proudly supporting her
husband whose plethora of talents draws people from all over to hear his sermons
and give their life to Christ excites her. Yet, fears of all Darvin give to his
ministry and flock causes Michelle to question their relationship and her role
as First Lady. While dealing with those insecurities and learning what it takes
to be a First Lady, she encounters the conniving temptress Daphne Carlton.
Befriending Michelle grants complete access to Michelle’s life and sets the
stage for Hell, fire and brimstone to come calling.
Pastor Darvin Johnson is the mesmerizing, charismatic, engaging yet gullible
Pastor everyone loves. Always available to help someone in need, he stumbles in
the crazed realm of Daphne Carlton. Believing every opportunity is one to lead a
lost soul to Christ, he naively opens his church, home and relationship with his
wife to this conniving temptress.
Daphne Carlton is the well dressed, manipulating, crazy church member, who will
use any means necessary to secure what she wants, Darvin Johnson. Believing he’s
in love with her and that she will make a better First Lady propels Daphne to go
to every extreme imaginable and beyond to claim Darvin, even murder. Neither
confining her to a mental institution nor having a restraining order forbidding
any contact with the couple deters Daphne’s toxic plans. Coming back with a
vengeance and believing God’s given her a second chance to be the First Lady of
Mt. Zion, she schemes with a twin who didn’t exist until her release from the
psychiatric ward.
Dishan Washington creatively pens this emotionally compelling, highly explosive,
strong character based novel about the trials and tribulations of a First Lady.
Using real life scenarios, scriptures and colorful personalities from the First
Lady Support group, reveal how easy kindness can be misconstrued, causing
dissension in the ministry. Metaphorically she shows how love truly can conquer
all when God is first. As a First Lady herself, she keeps it real by showing
that no relationship is without problems, even with God at the head; however,
trusting, believing, and praying, never losing hope will always bring Victory.
Darvin’s character was a little inconsistent representing a strong, anointed man
of God, yet so gullible, naïve and always being deceived by tricks of the devil
throughout the book…but then again… Satan can deceive us all if we take our eyes
off of God!
The Diary
of a Mad First Lady is a heartfelt, thought
provoking novel that will leave you watching and praying for your Pastor and
First Lady….knowing without a doubt that Prayers of the Righteous Availeth Much!
