SYNOPSIS: Star-crossed lovers DeAndra Blake and Judge Damon Kessler are forced to finally confront their feelings for each other, while they hide out and try to identify the culprits that have been menacing them.

CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE:  (4) Wayne Jordan

REVIEW:  DeAndra Blake’s love for Judge Damon Kessler goes back to when she was fifteen years old. Despite their attraction to each other, Damon’s love for another woman prevents the relationship from going any further. When Damon makes it clear that there is not future for them, DeAndra leaves Detroit and moves to Chicago. Two years later they meet, the attraction as strong as before. Will DeAndra lose her heart again? Or is the time right for Damon’s falling?

FALLING is a delightful story of second chances. Much of the story’s strength lies in the appeal of the two main characters. Both DeAndre and Damon are likeable sensitive individuals. DeAndra’s unwavering love for Damon never appears as a weakness, but serves to give strength to her character. Damon, the misguided hero, eventually realizes that love is not holding on to an image but allowing yourself to see true love right before your eyes.

The addition of the suspense subplot does not detract from the love story, but provides tense moments of intrigue while keeping the reader guessing the identity of Damon's stalker. My one grouse with FALLING is its mere 175 pages that did not allow for a full development of the main characters. Despite this, Ms. Dunbar pens a story that not only provides a few hours of reading pleasure, but is a tender tribute to the power of love. I look forward to her next romance.
