REVIEW: I am going to start calling Brenda Jackson, "The Postman" because she always delivers. Once again, she has brought us a sizzling romance with strong, believable characters, a satisfying plot and incredible love scenes. For those of you lucky enough to be acquainted with the other books in the Madaris series, this will be the cherry on the cake of your day. Lock your door, turn off your phone, put on some Maxwell and Tyrese and let Mrs. Jackson take you to a place of Fire and Desire.

Corinthians Avery despised Trevor Grant from the moment she laid eyes on him. There is just something about this self-assured handsome man that rubs her the wrong way. The feeling is mutual--the beautiful Corinthians gets under Trevor’s skin the same way. And since their companies work together their paths often cross for business reasons. The sparks fly often, as do the sharp remarks. These two really cannot stand each other, or so they think. But on a deeper level there is a pull that is undeniable; a desire that neither one can explain.

On a business trip to Rio de Janeiro, the thin line between love and hate snaps once and for all as Corinthians’ life is put in jeopardy. What seemed to be a terrorist attack is really an attempt on her life and the only person that can save her is former Marine Captain Trevor Grant. They develop a new respect and understanding of each other as they are forced to take refuge in the Brazilian jungle to await rescue. But no one can rescue them from the passion that flames as their desire finally takes over. When they are at last in each other’s arms they forget that they aren’t supposed to like each other--they are too busy falling in love.

After their evacuation from the jungle, Corinthians and Trevor part under a cloud of misunderstanding and doubt. The impetus for their reconciliation comes in a most unusual form and is aided by some highly unlikely sources.  Their joyous reunion is short-lived as the madmen who were foiled in Rio succeed in kidnapping Corinthians. Once again, Trevor has to rescue the woman that he loves, but this time it is really personal because they have sampled the ecstasy of their true, passionate love.

The steps that Trevor takes to save Corinthians make for a story that is exciting, action-filled and introduces some amazing new characters. The reader also gets a chance to revisit some familiar friends which lends more credence to the storyline. All in all, this is an absolutely fabulous book. Mrs. Jackson has a gift for creating characters that are like dear friends. The dialogue and situations are always realistic and draw the reader right into the pages. She has a special knack for creating men that are, well....men. There are a few new fellows in FIRE AND DESIRE that you definitely will not want to miss. I am sure that they will be turning up in greater detail in later books.

The characters of Corinthians and Trevor have been artfully enmeshed with her other books so now that it is their turn on center stage, it feels like a wonderful homecoming. If you have read WHISPERED PROMISES, TONIGHT AND FOREVER, and ETERNALLY YOURS, prepare yourself for a treat. FIRE AND DESIRE is like a lovely dessert after a three course meal. If you have not had the pleasure of Mrs. Jackson’s other books, treat FIRE AND DESIRE like a luscious appetizer. Either way, you are the winner with this one. You will be on fire and your only desire will be for another Brenda Jackson romance as soon as humanly possible!
