~ Review: Forbidden Temptation ~ |
SYNOPSIS: After marrying off her sisters, Ruby Lockhart could finally concentrate on her career. After all, love wasn't in the cards for the pragmatic Ruby. Only she could wake up the morning after her sister's wedding with a gorgeous, sexy man in her bed and have him be her best friend! SERIES ROMANCE |4| Keren Childers REVIEW: Ruby Lockhart, oldest of the Lockhart Sisters, is the stern, old fashioned one that takes care of her sisters. When their mother passed away five years ago, Ruby was left to take care of them and make sure they were alright; but she didn’t have much time to enjoy life for herself. Her best friend Luther Biggens, ex-navy Seal, has always been there for them; but at Opal and D’Marcus’ reception the tables turned on Ruby and Luther. And frankly, I don’t think they knew what hit them.
Ms. Forster introduces characters that are energizing, comical, and the chemistry is sizzling. It’s funny that once they slept together it is as if they are strangers. Ruby is just scared of being alone. She has a wild streak that she has kept bottled up but it finally comes out. They were cracking me up with their arguments. Luther feels that Ruby doesn’t think of him as a complete man because of his handicap; he lost a foot and half of a leg in the war. Ruby, on the other hand, thinks that she didn’t satisfy him in bed. Their problem is lack of communication that eventually bordered on stupidity.
In FORBIDDEN TEMPTATION, the pace is steady and the storyline connects well. The setting is intriguing and helps to paint a picture of their story. When Luther rides through an area where the trees and the road were covered with snow, I could imagine a beautiful winter picture hung on a wall. The secondary characters are enlightening, and with the other Lockhart sisters already married, everyone plays matchmaker with Ruby and Luther. Luther’s father, mother and siblings also play a significant role in the story. They are this loving family that gets together on Sundays, but they too, wanted to see Luther and Ruby together.
Ms. Forster does a good job with the storyline and creating interesting characters. My only grouse would be the constant miscommunication between Luther and Ruby; this eventually got to me. Overall, however, FORBIDDEN TEMPTATION was a good read. reviewer@romanceincolor.com | 1st October 2007
