But his wife hasn't forgotten the dirt in his backyard, and denies JT the very thing he craves—forgiveness. When his mother-in-law and ex-mistress hatch a plot to destroy him, he will need all the Holy Ghost power he can muster to stay true. INSPIRATIONAL FICTION |4| Darlene Mitchell REVIEW: Pastor JT Tyler returns with a determination to be God’s faithful and trusted servant. Accepting his fall from grace, and recommitting his life to God, propels JT to right the wrongs of his adulterous affairs. Realizing his family means more to him than life itself, JT looks to God for help in winning Cassandra’s forgiveness and trust back. Remaining faithful and doing all he can to show Cassandra he has changed, falls short when Diane Benson, JT’s ex-mistress and Lily’s biological mother returns to Cleveland, Ohio with an edict to reap havoc and destroy the lives of JT and Cassandra. Cassandra knowingly accepts and loves Lily as her own, yet struggles constantly with forgiving JT and his betrayal; so much so that she becomes frigid and rebuffs JT’s every intimate touch. Looking for understanding and answers, Cassandra finds herself receiving advice from a biased psychiatrist and her very bitter mother Mattie, who could be the poster child for un-forgiveness and who loathes JT. Failing to receive the answers she is seeking sends Cassandra’s mental state into a realm of fear, doubt and severe panic attacks. Clearly seeing the changes in JT gives Cassandra hope, but not enough for her to ask God to restore her trust in Him and JT. Using Mattie’s contempt and loathing for JT, Diane manipulates Mattie to help her bring down JT; only bringing down JT means betraying Cassandra. Vanessa Miller writes an emotional, fast paced sequel to Forsaken that continues the poignant story of adultery and the devastation that follows. Utilizing strong characters and realistic scenes, Vanessa brilliantly reveals Gods grace and mercy that offers second chances for those who seek forgiveness. Focusing on the four characteristics of adultery, Vanessa reveals the many struggles of forgiving, trusting, and loving again, while showing the side effects of bitterness, un-forgiveness, vengeance, and having a Baby Mama, all of which makes this a very believable story. Confirming that the tongue is a mighty weapon, Vanessa creatively shows the consequences of “touching God’s anointed and bringing harm to his prophets.”
FORGIVEN is a wonderfully written, page turning sequel that will awaken every emotion in your body, and make you think twice about cheating. While effectively revealing the devastation of adultery, it also strengthens and emphasizes the importance of forgiveness. As the Word tells us that vengeance is God’s, FORGIVEN, deals out a double dose of God’s vengeance as the enemy attempted to destroy God’s anointed servant. I highly recommend this superb sequel; however not without first recommending that you read Forsaken, where it all began! reviewer@romanceincolor.com | 1st July 2010
