PLOT SYNOPSIS:

REVIEW:

Christian author, Annetta P. Lee, makes an auspicious debut with FRAGMENT IN THE SAND, a story that speaks about the importance of trusting God and allowing Him to guide us in the choices we make in life.  A moving love story, FRAGMENT IN THE SAND, is also filled with spine-tingling suspense that will keep the readers guessing the villain until the very end.

Well-known model, Alex Webb, is becoming more and more dissatisfied with her work and lifestyle.  A born-again Christian, she has tried to maintain a close relationship with God, despite working in a profession where temptation is always knocking at the door.   Finding her fiancé in bed with another woman, only serves to confirm the superficiality and hypocrisy in her world.  Now, also faced with a stalker, the memories of her mother’s murder, her father’s disappearance, as well as her brother’s desertion, are vivid in her mind.  Even her volunteer work at a hospital affect her greatly as she is moved by the tragedy of terminally ill children, and especially the death of a little boys she had grown to love.

Sounds a bit melodramatic?  To some extent … but Ms. Lee makes this story work, despite taking her heroine through trial after trial.  Alex is searching for answers, and it is only when she submits herself to God’s will, that she is able to sees the fullness of her potential, and the path God wants her to take.

When Alex’s brother, Zake, sends his friend, US Deputy Marshall, Casey Oliver, to check up on her, Casey is far from pleased.  He remembers Alex as a spoilt little girl and her being a model does not suggest that she that she has changed.  What he does find is a strong confident woman, faith in God is a bit shaven, and is scared at the evil that want to consume her with its darkness.

Both Alex and Casey are well-crafted characters who compliment each other, and seem perfectly matched.  Despite Casey’s initial reservations, he grows to admire the strong independent woman and her unwavering faith.  How Ms. Lee brings these two together, and skillfully weaves the romance element into this taut suspense, is a clean demonstration of her talent.

FRAGMENT IN THE SAND is not a perfect book (it drags a bit in part), but readers will be delighted with this offering, as Ms. Lee joins the ranks of this growing sub-genre that combines inspiring Christian romance with heart-pounding suspense.  Ms. Lee informed me recently in an interview that she’s working on the next book.  Her new fans will be pleased to here this.
