REVIEW:
GAMES OF THE
HEART is an amazing tale of how
two people who are definitely different turn out to be perfect for each other.
Pamela Yaye tells a story of how opposites attract through Sage Collins, an
impulsive, young woman who is trying to make a name for herself by any means;
while Marshall Grant is an overprotective single father who plays by the rules
at all times. The couple gets off to a rocky start, but once Sage realizes that
Marshall is Khari Grant’s father she is determine to do whatever it takes to get
the basketball star to sign with her agency and the NBA. Will Sage be able to
pull off the biggest deal of her life or will love overrule her career
ambitions?
Sage Collins grew up in the foster care system and the streets. Her gutsy
personality and good looks have moved her from the mail room to a junior agent
at Sapphire Entertainment. Sage won’t be considered as an executive manager by
her boss unless she signs upcoming star Khari Grant. Marshall Grant is
determined that Khari is going to Harvard to become a surgeon and he will not
allow his son to be distracted by the prospect of entering the NBA. An
ex-military man and the founder of a community center for at risk kids, Marshall
keeps a tight rein on Khari. Marshall lowers his guard and allows Sage into his
heart later discovering she lied and squirmed her way into his life from the
very beginning. By kicking Sage out of his life he realizes he doesn’t have one
without her. Attempting to make amends, Sage makes another bad judgment call
that forces Marshall to walk away again. Will Marshall and Sage find their way
back to each other or will they live the rest of their lives apart wishing they
were together?
The story takes place in Indianapolis and Las Vegas. A ski trip and a trip to
L.A. are helpful to the plot and the development of Sage and Marshall’s
relationship. The dialogue is intriguing and flows at a consistent speed. The
supporting characters help us understand Sage and Marshall and help guide them
in their relationship.
I absolutely loved GAMES OF THE HEART.
Pamela Yaye has another hit on her hands. Marshall and Sage’s story inspires you
to believe that your soul mate is out there and that love can conquer all.
