REVIEW:  Kaylee Daniels has dedicated her life to ensuring that her bookstore is a success. Working nonstop, she barely takes a day off; she even lives in the apartment above the store. But Friday nights are reserved for dinner at Luciano’s with her 2 best friends. Not only is the food wonderful, but the scenery, namely the owner Luciano, is to die for. Kaylee would love to add a little spice, in the form of the hunky Italian, to her life; but whenever he’s around, she turns into a klutz who can barely speak two words. Luciano would love nothing better than to initiate a hot affair with Kaylee, but his fear of commitment forces him to keep his distance. When Kaylee approaches him with talk of a no-strings attached romance, Luciano jumps at the chance. But what will the two “commitment phobes” do when the strings appear anyway, thus attaching them together at the heart?

GETTING LUCKY WITH LUCIANO, is a fun, quick read. Kaylee and Luciano are great leads that complement each other well; they are both driven towards success and are very passionate about their careers, as well as each other. I really enjoyed the humorous tones the author interjected into the story. Overall, it helped to keep the story moving. However, there are times when the action slowed a bit due to Kaylee’s internal musings. I understood her reasons for being gun shy, but felt the author hit me over the head with it a tad too much. And while Kaylee and Luciano are a well matched pair, their dialog dragged just a tad at times.

The cast of secondary characters help make this story a must read. Kaylee’s best friends, Tabby and Bri are a trip; their interactions remind me of how I can get with my own friends. (Good times indeed!) And Luciano’s cousin, Nico, adds another infusion of sexy to the plot. He is just as handsome as Luciano, and
has his sights set on Tabby; but only time will tell if he will ever catch her.

This is the first book in the “Friday’s at Luciano’s” series, and I can’t wait to catch up with the girls next time to see who’s next. I recommend this story to all who are looking for a little spice in their lives as well.
