I liked everything about
the newest offering from Crystal Wilson-Harris, including the title.
It reminds me of one of my favorite sayings—“The road to hell is
paved with good intentions”… Often
this is truly the case but with the charming Benjamin J. Stevens and the
free-spirited Ivy Daniels it is the road to Paradise and lasting love that is
paved with those intentions.
At
the very last possible moment, Ivy realized that her feelings for Keith Jamison
were not the stuff of which happily-ever-after is made.
She knew that by marrying him she would be committing a mistake they
would both regret the rest of their lives.
So she did the only thing possible under the circumstances and called off
the wedding. Unfortunately, she did
it on the way down the aisle…
Benjamin
J. Stephens had witnessed some unusual things in his time, but never a runaway
bride, especially not one as beautiful as Ivy.
He sprang to her rescue and as he was helping her cope with the aftermath
of her impulsive decision, he did the one thing that he shouldn’t have done
under the circumstances—he fell in love.
Their
platonic friendship quickly deepened into something wonderful, deep and abiding
for them both, until Ivy discovers that she has a lasting memento of the
interrupted nuptials; she is carrying Keith’s child. Now she is faced with an even tougher decision.
Should she do the right thing and follow her heart, or should she do the
thing right and marry the father of her child, a man who still loves her madly?
This
is by far Ms Wilson-Harris’ best book. It
combines humor, sensuality, sparkling dialogue and humor into a delightful story
that you will want to read again and again and share with everyone you know.
The most intriguing part of the book was the underlying plot involving a
mysterious liaison that could put everything into a new perspective if Ivy only
knew about it…waiting for her to uncover this startling twist of fate will
make you race through the book at breakneck speed the way I did!
Ivy
and Benjamin are a likable, believable couple who deserve their ultimate
happiness. While Good
Intentions has its humorous moments and its passionate ones, the
subtly drawn plot is one that provokes thought and will engender conversation. Sometimes you have to do something that seems very wrong for
the right reasons, and sometimes the ‘right’ things are very, very
wrong…but as long as you’ve got Good
Intentions, anything is possible!
