REVIEW:  Tayla Hampton is running from her past. She’s divorced her abusive and controlling husband, and wants nothing to do with him. She’s even taken a new job as a principal at a private school in another state. Tayla’s content with her new life until she hires the new history teacher. She never expected to be sidetracked by this tall, sexy, good looking man. But Thaddeus is no ordinary man, he’s the son of Poseidon and a rare beautiful bird. Thaddeus is here on a mission; to save Tayla. He exploits his sensuality innocently and Taylor finds it hard to ignore. When she touches him, the heat nearly burns her. She is baffled by this man and wants to know who and what he is. Can a greek god and a mortal see eye to eye and develop some type of relationship?

In HEART OF THE PHOENIX, Ms. Arthur introduces you to a whole new ballgame of myths, gods, and mortals. The characters are strong, energetic, and sensual. Tayla is a strong, independent woman, who doesn’t need a man to validate her. Thaddeus is mystifying, mysterious, and sexy. He’s here to do his assignment, but is torn with his emotions. The strong attraction the two have towards each other is explosive, and their intimacy is sizzling hot. I enjoyed the love scenes. Thaddeus, although not human, knew how to work it. I have not read any romance stories with a mythological twist on it, but this one kept me interested. The story gives you a taste of Greek Mythology characters from the dark side of the world, and it is entertaining.

The plot is enlightening; sci-fi and romance mixed together. The characters keep diversion going to the end. You want to know who was from the dark side and who was mortal throughout the story. The secondary characters play an important role, as well with their hidden agendas.

Overall, I believe Ms. Arthur took a chance on putting these two concepts together, but in the end she pulled it off. This is a good read.
