Feeling the need to start a new life and escape her dysfunctional family, the heroine, Bobbi Cunningham, in HOT SUMMER
NIGHTS, moves from her hometown of Douglas to Macon, Georgia. Bobbi has struggled her whole life to be the perfect daughter, sister, and
niece to her immediate and extended family, while at the same time distancing herself from the drama that constantly surrounds them.
Bobbi fulfills a dream and returns to college to complete her undergraduate degree. She makes sacrifices to achieve this
goal by working full-time and attending classes during HOT SUMMER NIGHTS. Entering one of her classes, Bobbi sees the most handsome man; only
to find out they are in the same study group. Upon seeing Bobbi, Quen feels the same sparks. Something Quen has in common with Bobbi is that
he also recently moved to Macon, Georgia from Chicago, IL.
As the courtship progresses between Quen and Bobbi, they both find it extremely hard to reveal dark secrets about themselves
or family skeletons. They both carry heavy burdens, afraid to risk their newfound love which is developed over the HOT SUMMER NIGHTS. They
struggle to make peace with their personal demons, and find a way to reconcile their love through it all.
The development of the romance between Quen and Bobbi is typical of most relationships. What separate this novel from the
rest is that Ms. Anderson has incorporated how placing moral judgment based on an individual’s circumstances or their past can prevent you
from reaping the rewards of what the future can hold with that individual if you keep on your blinders.
This reviewer enjoyed this novel, and I look forward to what’s next from the desk of Ms. Anderson. |
