REVIEW: Excellently written, inspiring, profound is the novel
penned by Marilynn Griffith. Exploring the themes of love, forgiveness,
family and friendship, Mrs. Griffith produces a novel that can revel any
written.
Herein lies a tale of feet! Feet which have trodden through the varied
stages of life; feet gnarled and misshapen by the changing scenes of
life. These feet are at times so lame that to climb the mountains of life
is a painful experience. Rochelle Gardner has struggled and fought; her
heavenly experience appears to do her no earthly good. Everything in her
life is topsy-turvy; everything she has fought for seems to be dissolving
before her very eyes. The bunions of fear, disappointment, pride and low
self esteem have almost crippled this woman of God; however, she leans on the
promise of God for her strength. As the story unfolds God makes her
feet like a deer’s feet and enable her to walk on high hills.
Troubled feet must be straightened and made to walk unknown paths.
Jericho’s feet are troubled; he has been taught much, his vessel has
been filled to the brim. But this vessel has cracked and some of the
water has leaked. Jericho must place this vessel back on the Potter’s
wheel; it is only through this that these troubled feet can be
straightened. The author wisely uses the supporting characters of
Jordan, Tad and Shannon to heal and strengthen the troubled feet of this
young man, putting him on the path that he must travel in order to
succeed.
How beautiful are the feet of them who bring good news! Shannon is one
of the main supporting characters of this wonderfully written novel. As
Shannon walks through the pages of this novel, he brings with him the
perfume of love. Looking at a situation that seems virtually impossible
in the eyes of the main character, Shannon is able to show that with
God, nothing is impossible!
IF THE SHOES FIT is an excellent read; one that builds the spirit of the
reader, reminding them that God can take lame feet and make them
beautiful!
