Romance readers beware.
This Genesis Press introduction to erotic romance can be too hot to
handle. Indigo
After Dark I introduces us to two writers with very different
styles.
Angelique takes you through
the wild, erotic fantasies of Margaret, better known as Jade in “In
Between the Night”. This
is the story of Margaret, a shy, quite, woman.
A woman who was raised to believe that “Sex is something you must stay
away from…” She was afraid of her own body and her sexuality until she met
Anthony Tate.
“Why
are you eating alone?” the smooth deep voice asked.
“Perhaps
I’m waiting for someone.”… I saw him smile.
“If
you are you are, you’ve been waiting a long time.”
“You’ve
been watching me?”…
“What’s
your name?”
“Margaret.”…
“Hmmm,
You don’t look like a Margaret to me. More
like a Jade. Yes, Jade.
That’s what I’ll call you. Do
you like that name?”
“Yes.”…
“I
can make you, Jade, Make you feel the real woman you are inside… the one dying
to get out.” He smiled, almost tenderly…
“Who-who
is this Jade? Who do you think
she… I am?”
“Come
see me on Wednesday, and we will begin to find her… together…”I’ll be
waiting.” He turned and walked
away, merged with the crowd and he was gone.
And this is how it all gets
started, the beginning of Margaret’s self-discovery.
From their first meeting, Anthony wanted to know all of her fantasies; he
wanted her to act them out then share with him.
So, every Wednesday she would go to his office and tell him about her
weeks adventures as Jade. He leads
her down the road of sexual discovery. If
only he knew that her one true fantasy involved him.
Sound wild?
Well it is. This story takes
you to another realm of romantic fantasy. Many
of Jades escapades could be considered raunchy, and some dangerous.
I found myself wondering how deep she would get.
I questioned how Genesis could consider this a romantic story.
Erotic? Maybe. Romantic?
Definitely not. Then came the surprising ending that changed my whole outlook
on this romantic erotic story.
Angelique does a good job
with her single addition to this new line of romantic fiction.
The sometimes dark and sometimes dangerous experiences of Jade will both
entice and repel and you won’t be satisfied until the story is complete.
Nia Dixon’s contribution , “Midnight
Erotic Fantasies” tells
several stories that most women can relate to.
Stories about a writer, that meets and beds a sexy artist the first time
they meet; a new homeowner who meets the handyman of her dreams; a photographer
who goes beyond at a photo shoot with the hot and handsome model who only allows
women to photograph him while he “plays with” the camera; and a poet who is
reunited with the man who left her wondering how he truly felt…
“Hey,
beautiful.”
“I
thought you had left town or something…”
“No,
I’ve been around, just chillin’ at the house, working, thinking’…
“Thinking,
about what?”
“Lots
of things… and you.”
“Me?” She said, astounded.
“Yeah,
you. I couldn’t quite face you
after what happened the last time we were together.”
“What
happened that then, Derek? I felt
so stupid. I read you wrong,
didn’t I?”
“Nope,
you didn’t. I wanted you so bad
that day…”
These and other stories take
you through a relatively safe journey of eroticism and romance.
Nia Dixon does a great job of giving you the eroticism that many desire
while staying true to the romantic element that keeps us coming back.
It took me a while to get
through this book because, being a novice in erotic romance, I had to get over
the shock factor. Once I adjusted,
I was able to enjoy most of the stories. Being
a true fan of romance, my only difficulties where the stories that involved sex
without feeling or went to far off the traditional relationships that I’m used
to.
Overall Indigo
After Dark I is an intriguing venture into erotic romance.
If you have a vivid imagination and enjoy fantasy this new line promises
to feed your desires. If you like
it “straight up, no chaser” then keep these on your book list.
But, if me, you enjoy the build up of the romance, and the story behind
the characters that builds to a happy ending, these steamy stories can be a bit
much. Unless you want to walk on
the wild side, I recommend that you stick to the “less erotic” romance
series.
