SYNOPSIS:  Lindy Lee has it all: a successful career as a paediatrician, a gorgeous husband that adores her, and the son that she always wanted. Just when she thinks all is safe and secure in her world, Nick Lewis, the man who betrayed her love, reappears after ten years and her life spins out of control.

MAINSTREAM FICTION |3| Marguerite Lemons

REVIEW: Dr. Lindy Lee is a paediatrician with an intuitive side that she chooses to keep hidden since it conflicts with her medical training. Nick Lewis, world-renowned photographer, is Lindy’s ex-lover who betrayed her in the worst way possible. After a brush with death in a remote village in Africa, Nick returns to D. C., to both showcase his work and make amends for past deeds. Lindy’s reputation is under attack after an unscrupulous reporter writes an unflattering article about her and the faith healings that are taking place at her church. Lindy’s husband and friends keep pressuring her to accept her gift of healing, while Nick has made it a point to let her know that he wants her back. Nick attempts to make amends with Diana, the woman who aborted his child after he dumped her. Diana, the wife of a prominent political figure, decides that Nick’s return is her chance to win back the man she truly loves. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t return her feelings.

IT’S NOT OVER YET is an interesting, but at times confusing, story dealing with religious beliefs, greed, passion, mental and physical illness, and secrets. The plot is mainly about secrets and how people relate to those whose beliefs are different from what is considered the “norm”. For Lindy to be as smart, gifted, and talented as she is, she’s boring. Herself doubting, pity party gets old quickly. Nick starts off with great intentions, but his character is reduced to behaving like the stereotypical “dog”. He makes amends in the end, but I was sick of him by then. Paul’s character feels unrealistic and Rev. Betty comes off as the typical “silly” female.

IT’S NOT OVER YET is a good thought provoking book. It makes you examine your beliefs and consider how you treat your loved ones.
