REVIEW:  Devon Vaughn Archer tells the story of finding true love with Mackenzie and Ian in KISSING THE MAN NEXT DOOR. After Mackenzie meets her new next door neighbor she finds that maybe she should start living again. Ian has never felt the need to marry but as he gets to know his neighbor better, he realizes that falling in love may not be so bad after all. Can Mackenzie and Ian make their relationship work or are they just neighbors with benefits? Devon Vaughn Archer tells how finding the right person can make you rethink your position on love and happiness.

Mackenzie Reese is a co-owner of a salon, a jazz singer, and a mom. Her sixteen year old son, Ryan, has recently moved to L.A. to live with her ex-husband and his new wife. She is just beginning to live again when in walks Ian. Ian Kelly is a forty year old jazz disc jockey who has never married and doesn’t want kids. As he begins to explore his attraction to Mackenzie he realizes that there’s something missing from his life, love. As Mackenzie and Ian begin to get comfortable with the idea of falling in love, Ryan decides that he’s had enough of L.A. and returns to Cheri Village unexpected and unannounced. Ian has to decide if loving Mackenzie is enough to make him change his opinion of getting married and becoming a father.

The supporting characters help the main characters see reason and serve as a sounding board for their feelings. The setting of the story is Cheri Village, Vermont. The story line moves well. If you are a jazz lover then you will really enjoy the detailed music sections. The dialogue is keeps the reader interested in the story.

I would recommend this novel. It reminds you not to let one bad relationship deter you from falling in love again. Devon Vaughn Archer encourages you to place your heart on the line in order to find true happiness.
