SYNOPSIS: For Ashley Temple, an undercover agent with The Ladies Cartel, breaking up a baby-trafficking ring is more than a job: it's personal. When she teams up with sexy FBI operative Elliot Morgan to pose as a married couple, the stakes--and the passions--soar sky high.

SERIES ROMANCE |4| Ashley Haney

REVIEW:  Donna Hill’s fourth book in the TLC series is a masterpiece.  Ashley Temple doesn’t know whether to be honored or scared when she lands back to back assignments for the TLC.  Given the nature of the case and how close it relates to a situation she experienced over twenty years ago, she begins to wonder if this assignment is purely coincidental.  Elliot Morgan has experienced a lot of loss over the last few years.  As a result, he tends to keep to himself and internalize his issues.  Now he finds himself working with a partner, a situation that he hasn’t had since he lost his last partner whom he fell in love with.  With the growing attraction, mutual ability to rub each other the wrong way, and the closeness they have to share because of the assignment, will Ashley and Elliot be able to keep things on a professional level or will they cross the lines?

Ashley enjoys her job at MT Management, an event company, where she helps coordinate personal and corporate events.  She’s also pleased with the work she does as a member of The Ladies Cartel.  She’s not so pleased with the new case that she’s been assigned because it brings up a horrible incident from her past.   Ashley has been assigned to work with the handsome and talented FBI agent Elliot Morgan to find out who is stealing and selling babies on the black market.

Elliot has grown accustomed to the amount of time he spends away from home and the many personas he takes on as an undercover FBI operative.  What he’s not used to is working with a partner, a female partner to be exact.  He hasn’t had one since Lynne who he fell in love with and planned to spend his life with until she was killed while on an assignment together.  As Ashley and Elliot live together and act out their role of husband and wife for the case, they can no longer deny the sexual chemistry that exists between them and grow closer and comfortable in their relationship.  They begin to share the things that happened in their lives and Elliot promises to find Ashley’s sister that was stolen as a baby.

The supporting characters in this novel are very supportive and give advice to Ashley and Elliot. While the dialogue piques the readers interest and moves smoothly. The story takes place in New York.

I would recommend that you read
SEX AND LIES, SEDUCTION AND LIES, and TEMPTAION AND LIES before reading this book to gain a better understanding of TLC and the characters that are mentioned in the book. Donna Hill has done an excellent job on this series and I look forward to reading how the next TLC member falls in love.
