REVIEW: Belle Harris is a 40- something year old in serious need
of a life. Instead, she is determined to make an appearance at her class
reunion to show her ex-husband, and his new wife, that she is doing well
without him. Caught in a torrential downpour, her hopes for a little
revenge are all but doused; but are they? Because of the rain, she meets
a bookstore owner that literally changes her life. After repeating an
incantation over an enchanted book, Belle is able to go back in time to
whatever point she decides for a second chance in life. While Belle was
prepared for some things, she was definitely not prepared to be thrust
into a world filled with sexy werewolves, mysterious vampires, and other
mythical creatures. When she and Anwar Thomas, a very sensual lycan
prime, cross paths, neither will ever be the same. Together, Belle and
Anwar embark on a tumultuous journey of passion and discovery as the try
to figure out who is behind the attack on the lycan Warchief.
LUNA BAY is a hot and exciting story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.
Belle and Anwar are great leads, full of fire and passion. Initially,
Belle is delicate, timid, and wallowing in self pity; but after her wish
is granted, she is transformed in a tigress that refuses to take a back
seat in her life any longer. And while she and Anwar have every right to
be suspicious of each other, giving the circumstances; they find it
almost impossible to keep their distance. They are simply hot for each
other, and whenever they are near each, its fireworks.
I enjoyed reading about the world in which Luna Bay exists. While it
looks like a nice resort town, it’s really a borderland acting as a
barrier between the human world and Hades, the land of the underworld.
Being as such, it is the residents’ charge to keep both parties on their
respective sides. Speaking of the residents, the secondary characters
added a depth to the story, as well as whetted my appetite to learn more
about them. The author does a good job of balancing the leads’
development with the subplot and the other characters. Let me tell you,
the flirty Eric and reserved Cameron, members of Anwar’s patrol group,
are two lycans I definitely want to hear more about. Now add Gabriel, a
mysterious vampire with ties to Belle, and Mina, Anwar’s formidable
older sister, to the mix, and I say we have a series on our hands!
While the plot and setting fuse together to make LUNA BAY an exciting
read, I was a bit disappointed that a certain plot point was never tied
up. Throughout the story, Anwar is told, more than once, that because he
is a prime, he can only mate with a lycan. Being that Belle is
definitely not lycan; this is an issue that need to be addressed before
I can believe in their happy ever after. I also wish that there was a
bit more time dedicated to Belle and Anwar. I really enjoyed their
interactions wish these two spent more time together.
LUNA BAY is way too short!! I want to read more about Luna Bay and its
residents. I can only hope that Ms. Kama has a couple more books planned
in this series; I really think there just may be something between Eric
and Mina.
