MIAMI ATTRACTION is the fourth novel of the Kimani Hottie series. Ms. Overton introduces two complicated characters. Mikayla is a bestselling author with deep dark secrets that she harbors. She gets out periodically doing seminars with women who have been abused or have issues with relationships, but other than that she sits at home with her dog. She doesn’t date and finds her life is fine the way it is.
Dusty Warren is a renowned veterinarian that has insecurities about his life in the elite circle. He’s active in his quest to save animals and establish a good hospital. Neither saw the chemistry between them when they met for the first time when Mikayla brought in her unruly, tyrant dog, Angel to his clinic. After their first meeting, Dusty was determined to get to know this woman. Mikayla suffers a traumatic life-threatening situation in her life that has basically turned her into a recluse. Dusty has his hands full with her everyday excuses of not going out with him. His antics in getting her to come around were interesting and I enjoyed watching him get under her skin.
The setting was nice whereas you enjoyed the location of the veterinarian hospital and his home along with the large amount of land he owns. He focuses on a pleasant atmosphere for his animal patients and you could see he loved his job very much. This man truly had a kind heart. Mikayla’s past was intriguing and had you wondering how she got into something like this. The plot was mysterious and left you wondering when this secret would finally be revealed. There were some things that I felt were a little unrealistic as far as this secret that Mikayla hide for some years.
The secondary characters definitely gave it a twist and turn. Dusty’s father who owns a circus was entertaining. As was Mikayla’s publicist, Kandi, who always had her best interest at heart. Overall, Ms. Overton did a good job and I recommend reading MIAMI ATTRACTION. Don’t forget to check out the Kimani Hotties from the previous months. You won’t be disappointed.
