REVIEW:
Relationships take work and with marriages being
so disposable, they have become an emotional, and sometimes physical,
battleground. Karol Simons is a gifted writer/stay-at-home mom with a loving and
supportive husband and three beautifully delightful children, each with their
own unique personality. Karol begins to question her purpose in life, her
mothering skills, and her sanity as her relationships began to deteriorate when
her best friend, prayer partner, and neighbor Hope moves to North Carolina.
Despite the fact that Karol writes poems, stories, affirmations and prayers that
are powerful and inspiring with exhortations to give yourself away and be
passionate about something, she lives a troubled existence. What is the cause of
her dark moments of emptiness and dreams of blood and loss? The fact that her
husband, along with the children, calls her mom has added even more despair to
her already fragile existence and Karol desires to run away from life. Is Karol
willing to trust God, surrender to Rob and stand strong in her faith to reclaim
her marriage and children?
Rob Simons is a wise, handsome, patient, kind, self-employed, devoted husband
and man of faith who was once Karol’s best friend. He wants to rekindle the fire
and desire they once had in their marriage. Rob has a keen insight into the
source of their problems and has taken action to save his marriage and preserve
his children’s identity. Is his own faith strong enough to restore his household
amidst his ministry to his friends?
MOM’S THE WORD is a dramatic story
revealing love, mature romance, deceit, jealousy, insecurity, control, loss,
intrigue, humor and mystery with people who are seasoned by age, experience,
wisdom, and strength of character. Set in Tallahassee, Florida and North
Carolina, the characters exude small town flavor with charm and a touch of
class. As with any family, drama ensues with revelations of hidden secrets and
past wrongs. The characters are multidimensional, likeable, intelligent, and
real. Faith Antonia Ware the second, Dyanne’s and Neal’s Baby Proposal, Fallon’s
outrageous flirting with the modest Reverend Stokes, Ryan’s wit, and Judah’s and
Mia’s antics will keep you thoroughly entertained. Out of the mouths of babes
and adults comes wisdom in an astonishing, yet fun loving and lighthearted way.
Marilynn Griffith did an excellent job in delivering a plot that Christians,
especially those in crisis, can identify with and accept reconciliation through
grace, forgiveness, and love. I loved everything about this book. MOM’S
THE WORD is a heart warming, thought provoking,
inspirational, and entertaining read that I highly recommend.
