REVIEW:
Breanna
Parker is the daughter of Langston Parker, Founder and CEO of LP Records and the
Grammy award winning artist Karma Parker. She has had a life filled with
privilege and opportunity. The best boarding schools, clothing, travel, money
and things to burn. Beautiful, talented, intelligent and a wild child in LA’s
glitz and glamorous night life. Her desire to gain attention with her behavior
and don’t give a damn attitude garner her attention but not the type of
attention she wants.
After a her ill-fated marriage implodes, Breanna packs up and moves to Rome
where she meets Reuben Douglas. Reuben is handsome, talented and comes to
Breanna’s aide in his uncle’s restaurant one night. He is a designer and agrees
to help Breanna refine her talents. They become more than partners in business
and Breanna has to confide in Reuben every truth in her life except the one that
comes back to haunt her.
NAUGHTY
is a thoughtful story about what happens to a child who becomes an adult and has
never felt loved by her/his parents. Rochelle Alers lets the reader see each of
the character’s coming to terms with issues they have refused to address for
years. You see how her father built his business and how her mother changed her
name because she felt her heritage would not let her be accepted as an R&B
sensation. Ryder, her brother comes to terms with his sexuality and not being
accepted for his dreams and desires by his father. They are privileged and given
everything money can buy but not the time and love they truly desire.
Rochelle Alers has taken the time with
NAUGHTY to give the
readers insight into the glitz and glamour of L.A. Her message is clear…just
because you can give children everything their hearts' desire doesn’t mean it can
ever take the place of love, listening, time and participation in
their lives.
I enjoyed reading NAUGHTY.
