REVIEW: Shirley
Hailstock has another hit on her hands with
NINE MONTHS WITH THOMAS.
Thomas Worthington-Yates is an investment tycoon that hasn’t really lived since
his wife and unborn child died two years ago in a car accident with him behind
the wheel. Meghan Howard has persevered through her parents’ death, raising her
younger sister, and is now ready to live her life when she finds herself
jobless. Thomas’ in-laws approach Meghan with a job offer; become a surrogacy
for their daughter's last embryo. Shirley Hailstock takes us on a journey through
love and a look into the life of surrogacy.
Thomas has resigned himself to the fact that he will never father children, but
once his in-laws plant the idea of surrogacy in his head. it’s a done deal. He
also thinks that there is no chance of him ever falling in love again, but the
more time he spends with Meghan, the less sure he is about that fact. Meghan has
never wanted children. She prides herself on looking beyond what people portray
and seeing all that they think they have hidden carefully. So why is it so hard
for Meghan to see that Thomas is falling in love with her? Maybe because if she
sees that she will have to face the fact that she loves him to and she can’t
live with all the agreements and contracts that were signed in the beginning of
their relationship. The true question is whether Thomas and Meghan can continue
to fight their obvious attraction and feelings for each other or will they
continue to abide by the rules of their contract and separate in nine months?
The supporting characters in this story are unique. Never in a million years
would I have imagined that a mother and father could love the woman who is
carrying their deceased daughters’ baby as much as Nina and Adam. The dialogue
is intriguing and keeps the reader interested in the story. The setting of the
story is Maryland. There are parts of the story that take place in Acapulco and
San Antonio that provide a change of scenery and help add to the plot of the
story.
I would definitely recommend
NINE MONTHS WITH THOMAS. It explores a topic that is not often
talked about in our community. It is a great romance novel that shows how love
doesn’t abide to the rules in any contract.
