As vice President for a chain of successful boutiques, it was her personal life that challenged her. But when her former boyfriend Jeff comes back for a second chance, can she say no to him again?

REVIEW:

Seressia Glass’ first release, NO COMMITMENT REQUIRED was released in 2000 to critical acclaimed and earned a Romance in Color Reviewers’ Award for Best Genesis Book for that year.  As a new author, she demonstrated impressive potential; a potential that is realized in her sophomore effort, NO APOLOGIES.  With this book, Ms. Glass establishes herself as one of the best new authors of the new millennium.

When NO APOLOGIES begins we’re introduced to Angela Davenport.  Angela is hurled into motherhood when her cousin died during childbirth and leaves Angela as the guardian to her daughter. Kayleigh.  A successful business woman, Angela has seen enough pain in her short life.  She has an abusive husband who’s in prison, and a cold “bitch” of a mother who seems to find pleasure in criticizing her daughter.  Add a man she loves who she believes is in love with best friend and you have a woman who should be spending most of her time on a psychologist’s couch.  Instead, you have a woman, who faces each hurdle with dignity and strength.  This is not to say that Angela is some kind of superwoman.  In fact, she is a vulnerable woman who still hurts and suffers from her mother’s rejection, and the pain of losing the man she loves.

When Jeff Maxwell returns home after a year of self-discovery, eager to make amends and declare his love for Angela, she is adamant that she does not want him.  When he offers marriage believing that Kayleigh is his, she tells him “No”.  Jeff refuses to accept her response and sets out to prove that he loves her.  His courtship and seduction is worth the price of the book!  The shimmering sexual tension, and perfectly paced development of this relationship is done with the skill of a veteran, and I cannot help but be awed that this is only Ms. Glass’ second novel.

There is so much more that can be said about NO APOLOGIES: the numerous memorable scenes, the touches of humor, the wonderful secondary characters, and the glimpse of Yvonne and Mike’s life after NO COMMITMENT REQUIRED. All these make NO APOLOGIES a book that will linger in the minds of readers for years to come!

Readers will love Angela’s best friend, Lawrence, and will be overwhelmed by the Maxwell clan as Angela is, but they will also long for the unique caring and love that is so much a part of the family.

Seressia Glass weaves a special kind of magic that will captivate readers, and leave them breathless and begging for more!
