SYNOPSIS: Jadyn has made a life for herself with her boyfriend, Taji, and has a promising career as a dancer. However, she has never fully recovered from the emotional and physical pain she suffered at the hands of her mother and stepfather as a young girl. After finding out that Taji, the supposed love of her life, has been lying to his family about her, and may have even ruined her chances at getting a lead role in STOMP, Jadyn decides to make a drastic change in her life

MAINSTREAM FICTION |4| Dianthia Lemons

REVIEW:  Jadyn is an accomplished dancer who is finally about to attain her heart’s desire to dance professionally. She has attempted to push her past into the back of her mind but, even with therapy, she has a long way to go.  Taji is her boyfriend and she feels that he is the love of her life until recently.  Initially, their relationship was special but as time has progressed, Taji is engrossed in his career and one day running the family business.  Jadyn is not about to be a stay-at-home wife and mother anytime soon and she feels that she has to break things off with Taji.  She tries to talk to Taji but he surprises her and gives her the night of her life.  Just as she decides to give their relationship another chance, Taji does the unthinkable or so she thinks.  Feeling betrayed by the man she loves and unable to rely on her mother, Jadyn decides to find her biological father.  She travels to Miami to find her father and in the process, she meets a man name Justin.  He seems nice enough and does all the right things.  He wines her and dines her but something just isn’t right.  Jadyn not only finds out that Justin is not who he seems, she will have to fight or lose her life.

NOT QUITE WHAT IT SEEMS is a romantic, suspense filled novel.  Jadyn and Taji provide the romantic story line.  Flash, Justin and Steele provide the thrilling suspense and Mani provides the betrayal.  All of these elements make the story flow and intensify with each chapter.  The main characters are well developed and you become engrossed with the story and feel as if you are living the story.

Mari Walker has a winner with this novel and it was well worth the read.
