CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE |4| Marguerite Lemons

REVIEW:  Lacey Daigle is strong willed, smart and highly educated, but she has never been able to live up to her mother’s picture of perfection. Lacey steps out on faith, with the help of her grandmother, in an effort to live a dream that began many years ago when she was a child. Against her mother’s wishes, and after dumping her fiancée’, she moves with her grandmother to Ocean Cove to open Camp Noepe; an all girl horse-riding camp named in honor of her grandfather and her Native American heritage.

Monroe Falkner, aka, John Jacob Tobias is a hugely successful businessman who has lost his sense of direction after the death of his wife and their unborn child. He assumes the identity of the new Camp Noepe riding instructor in order to get away from the memories. He arrives three weeks after his expected arrival and is so stunned by Lacey’s resemblance to his deceased wife that he immediately puts up a wall to protect his heart.

Oak Bluffs is set in Martha’s vineyards and New York, with trips to Boston and Dallas, Texas. The plot and sub-plots are woven together seamlessly with characters that are easy for the reader to identify with. Both characters are extremely loyal to those they love and the supporting characters know when to voice their opinions and when to be quiet; with the exception of Lacey’s mother and ex-fiancée’ who learn the hard way, that when you push Lacey in the corner she comes out fighting.

Oak Bluffs is a story of second chances. Many of the characters have had some type of life altering experience and managed to rebuild their lives and move on.

Ms. Early has written an enjoyable page turner.
