SYNOPSIS: When her teenage son is accused of murder, Assistant District Attorney Jordan La Fontaine turns to her late husband's law partner to battle a fellow ADA in court, while using all of her resources to begin her own investigation to clear her son's name

LEGAL THRILLER:  (4) Wayne Jordan

REVIEW:  Since the death of her husband, Assistant District Attorney Jordan La Fontaine’s life has focussed on her career and her desire to be Bureau Chief of the Homicide Division. In the process she loses touch with her son and daughter. When Jordan’s son is charged with a vicious murder, her life is literally turned upside down. Jordan turns to her late husband’s partner, Simon NcNeil, for help. As she deals with her current situation, she evaluates her life and discovers that so much is missing.

PERSUASIVE EVIDENCE is the first major release from the talented Barri R. Flowers. An absorbing legal thriller, PERSUASIVE EVIDENCE is proof of Flowers’ talent as an author. Flower’s forte lies in the vivid well-developed characters he creates. The interactions of his characters and the conflicts that arise serve to make the story a compelling page-turner.

Of the major characters, Jordan is the most appealing. Flowers takes us, not only into her professional life, but allows us to see her deal with problems that affect her personal life as well. I had no doubt that Jordan’s confidence and strength of character would help her to deal with her current situation. Her relationship with Simon, however, lacks the passion that one expects of two individuals falling in love, but since PERSUASIVE EVIDENCE is a legal thriller this may be a minor grouse on my part.

In PERSUASIVE EVIDENCE questions of race hover beneath the surface, but never overwhelm the story’s main focus. Instead, Flowers focuses on the two trials, creating a realistic legal world that doesn’t fail to draw fans of this genre. One of the things I enjoyed about the story was its unpredictable outcome. Flowers kept me wondering to the very end.

R. Barri Flowers has penned a story that fans of legal thriller will enjoy. I can’t wait for his next release.
