REVIEW:
PRIVATE LIVES
is the newest novel by one of my favorite authors, Gwynne Forster. This is a
must read for anyone who’s a fan of her work. If you like romance with a little
of mystery, this is the novel for you.
Allison, a cookbook author, had a rough marriage and is now trying to make a
better life for herself and her son Dudley. So she’s moved to Indian Lake to get
some distance from her abusive ex-husband. Brock is from a well to do family and
once was a private investigator before he gave it up to open his own law firm.
He’s in Indian Lake to write a novel about his adventures from when he was a P.I.
When he meets Allison and Dudley, he’s a goner.
The sparks fly between Allison and Brock, and Dudley takes to him instantly.
Brock stakes his claim early on, letting Allison know that she will be his
woman, but he has his work cut out for him. Together, they must work through
Allison’s issues before they can be together. Despite all of this, they are a
passionate couple and Brock is also a wonderful influence on Dudley.
The story takes place in Indian Lake, Washington, DC and Alexandria, VA. The
setting worked for me because it explored the different locations. The dialogue
is great and authentic to the characters, while the plot moves along at a
moderate pace, keeping involved in the story. The romance is hot and sensuous;
it had me engrossed the entire time.
PRIVATE LIVES
was a wonderful read
for me because it was full of passion and romance. I recommend it for anyone
looking for a good, solid romance read. I finished the book in less than a day.
I urge everyone to support this talented author and pick up
PRIVATE LIVES.
It was worth it.
