SYNOPSIS:
CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE |4|

REVIEW:
Kayleigh Hardy is trying to get her life back on
track after the death of her father. She’s working a full-time job at an
accounting firm and going to school full-time in pursuit of her degree. She’s
been feeling a little tired lately, but she is taken aback by the onset of a
crippling paralysis. When she awakens in the hospital, her doctor informs her
that she is in the beginning stages of Lupus. Phineas “Finn” Callahan is a hot
shot financial advisor, with devastatingly good looks, a sexy accent and bad
luck with women. He has taken a sabbatical from women, until he meets his new
client, Kayleigh.
Kayleigh and Finn’s attraction to each other in instant; however, Kayleigh
believes that nothing could ever come of it because Finn is ten years older than
her and worth millions, and at thirty-five years of age, she is a sophomore in
college working on her degree.
Kayleigh’s character is stubborn and extremely hard headed, especially when it
comes to taking care of herself. She refuses to take proper care of her health,
or tell Finn that she’s sick after they begin dating because she thinks he’ll
run away.
Finn is extremely supportive of Kayleigh and her need for independence. Although
he wants nothing more to than to protect her, he still gives her the space she
needs to make her own decisions.
PROMISES OF
FOREVER
is set in and around the Dallas, Ft. Worth and Arlington, TX area. It is a story
about two people, from totally different worlds, who find each other when they
aren’t looking and fall madly in love. Ms. Bowers does an excellent job, putting
together an eclectic set of family and friends who have no problem voicing their
opinions about Kayleigh and Finn’s relationship whether it is wanted or not. The
story also has a couple of interesting plot twists.
Ms. Bowers has done an excellent job of putting a face on a disease that we are
aware of, but not many people really know the impact that it has on the lives it
touches. I recommend this book.
