REVIEW:  Candice Poarch has another hit on her hands with SAFE IN HIS EMBRACE. It is the third book in the Avery family series. Senetra Blain is on the run from an abusive ex-husband. She’s starting over and not letting anyone get too close, that is until she meets Alex Wilson. Alex knows that there is something familiar about the high school teacher. Once he figures out why she looks familiar and why she’s using another name, he must do everything he can to convince her to take a second chance on love.

Senetra Blain is now living as Regina Novak in Homer, Alaska. After a terrible divorce from her abusive politician husband, Senetra knows that if she is to stay alive she can’t let anyone know who she is or contact her family. Senetra lives her life afraid that her ex is going to find her and kill her. When she is set up with Alex, she tries to guard her heart but soon realizes that she is no match for Alex. Alex has been living in Anchorage, Alaska for the past two years as an engineer. He is trying to get over the love of his life and doesn’t want to go down that road again. He soon realizes that the attraction he had for Senetra three years ago is still going strong and is willing to wait for her to trust him and believe in their relationship and his ability to keep her safe.

The main setting of the story is in Homer, Alaska. The other locations are in Anchorage, Alaska, other parts of Alaska, Virginia, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. These locations help to define turning points in Senetra and Alex’s relationship. The dialogue is very good. The story line moves smoothly and the interaction among the characters keeps the reader wanting more. The supporting characters are influential in helping the main characters assess their emotions and build on their relationships.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I would recommend reading HIS TEMPEST and THEN COMES LOVE. This novel reminds you that you can’t live life in fear because you give the other person power over your life. Candice Poarch reminds people to empower yourself through your trials and take control of your life.
